Scientists are beginning to talk seriously about the possibility of doing large-scale engineered interventions in the planet's climate cycle (e.g. injecting massive quantities of sulfur into the atmosphere, seeding the ocean with iron to create carbon-sequestering algae blooms). Are these good ideas? What are the issues that we need to consider when making that decision?
